Understand the language, concepts, and strategy of the modern medical model in order to support the healing best suited for the people being treated by revitalizing and nurturing indigenous medical system, science, and methodology; specifically looking at indigenous approaches to pain management.

Presented to Behavioral health staff of Yakama Indian Health Service as part of the Opioid and Pain Treatment in Indigenous Communities (OPTIC) which aims develop, implement, and evaluate culturally centered implementation strategies to increase screening and brief intervention for chronic pain and opioid misuse/OUD in primary care clinics serving American Indian and Alaskan Native communities.

Honoring indigenous health

Honoring Indigenous Health hosted by So’oh-Shinálí Sister Project (SSSP). Cohort members were able to learn in-depth about diabetes and how to utilize our plant relatives to care for ourselves and those who have been diagnosed with diabetes. Community left with connection, knowledge and plant medicines to continue on their health journey.
